WELCOME!
This is the latest release of XLIST version 2.70. This will be the
most powerful version of XLIST ever released. It has new features
as outlined below.
Please read the documentation and review the XLIST.PRO file for
processing options in order to set-up XLIST properly. XLIST function
keys and *EXECUTE profile commands work in conjunction with your
favorite browser, editor, word processor, etc... in order to make
a seamless disk manager, and should be set-up properly within XLIST.PRO
before using XLIST.

ENVIRONMENT PARAMETERS:
For best performance of XLIST, set the following environment
parameters before using XLIST. This will page approximately
130K of memory to a virtual disk when XLIST launches a program
if the *OVERLAY option in XLIST.PRO is set ON. (DOS Version)

Version 2.42 ---
Correctly reset background color to defaults instead of
black / white.
Mouse support of the keyboard window and directory tree.
Enhancement to the /nnn command to position within the
directory to suppor the + & - sign. Can be used
to set a function key to position one entry up or
down by setting the function key to /+1 or /-1.
Enhancement to mouse functions to utilize double-click
to select menu items.
Enhancment to use middle mouse button or right & left button
down to tag files. Use right button to un-tag files.
Recompile of XLIST using Microsoft "C" Version 6.00A.
Percentage on top line shows percentage of drive the directory
space utilized.
Extensive expansion of the menus available using <shift><shift>
or clicking left mouse button on top line. These
menus are redundant to available features from the
command areas.
Modification of the /FIND command to search for a matching
set of files and display the results as a combined
directory. Creation of optional batch file has been
removed as a feature.
Removed *FINDFILE, *DIRSAVE, *DIRCLEAR, and *MEMORY options.
Support of the COUNTRY= command in PC-DOS CONFIG.SYS to
select the format for date & time displayed.
Major testing using Microsoft & Logitech serial mouse.
Changed *OVERLAY option stores memory to directory pointed to by
the TMP= environment parameter instead of the
OVERLAY= environment paramenter.
Version 2.43 --- Dec. 1990
Saved & restored mouse status when launching applicatons.
Change MS "C" optimization options to correct strange behaviors.
Tighten the editing for using the /SET command.
Version 2.50 --- March 1991
Replace *EGA43 profile command with *VGAMODE profile command.
Provide character definition files (fonts) to use with *VGAMODE command.
Change *DIRATTR profile command to use acronyms instead of numbers.
Remove /Mnn command line option at startup.
Enhance speed of routines that write the XLIST.CNF file.
Change the /Fnn command so that function keys can be envoked by
entering a mnemonic instead of numbers. (see /Fnn in docu.)
Always display the copyright statement when exiting XLIST.
Untag unexecuted commands that cause errors.
Correct cursor disappearing when exiting from XLIST corrected. (OS/2 Ver.)
Disable blinking color attributes within XLIST, thereby allowing use of
high intensity colors.
Use DOS prompt to provide a notice on returning to XLIST
Provide *MOUSE profile command to disable or enable mouse functions.
Provide the ability to enter profile commands on the startup of XLIST.
Provide *HOTKEY profile command to redefine menu keyboard hotkey.

Version 2.61 --- June 20, 1991
Separate versions of XLIST for OS/2 V1.0/1.1 and V1.2/1.3
Correction to popup windows not staying up when used without mouse.
Version 2.62 --- June 29, 1991
Enhanced the directory tree to be a popup window and provided
the feature with both OS/2 & PC-DOS version.
Corrected and enhanced the speed of viewing ZIP & ARC file
directories. The filename was corrupted in ZIP files
having paths stored with filenames.
Truncated the leading zero from file dates on screen display.
Display the file attributes consistent with OS/2 PM format.
Version 2.63 --- August 26, 1991
Provide the ability to take advantage of 12 row video modes
for vision impaired users.
Access to .LZH files as directories.
Modify the directory tree to slow down davigation movements when
using mouse.
Enhance to /EXE command to provide a window to enter DOS commands
with a command buffer accessable using PgUp & PgDn.
Enhanced memory management whereby XLIST uses on 7K of memory when
executing DOS commands & launching programs when the
*OVERLAY switch in XLIST.PRO is ON. Additionally, will use
EMS memory when available.
Version 2.64 --- August 31, 1991
Located bug in recognizing number of rows & columns on a EGA
adapter.
Corrected mouse cursor leaving a blank space at initial mouse
cursor location.
Decrease screen flashing on DOS when using the /+1 & /-1 commands.
Version 2.65 --- January 30, 1992
Add support for LZH archive files.
Registration prompt at startup of program. (Unregistered Version Only)
Wouldn't locate the VGAMODE files when whole drive & path specified.
Enhanced processing of archive files to emulate directory structures
when paths are available in archive directory.
Corrected problems with the alt-x (exclude entry) command.
Ability to set defaults using *CMD-DEFAULT profile command.
Provides for PgUp & PgDn using the directory tree.
Test for invalid XLIST commands and display error message.
New "/reset" command to return to current drive & path.
Correct bug in the "/find" command when entry not found and not finding
files without extensions.
Bug sometimes caused directories to show empty when they contained only
sub-directories.
Creates work file for directory tree to enhance performance when
*TREE profile is set ON.
Remove the *DIRCLEAR profile command.
Modify the /p (i.e. pause) command to have CRLF after message.
Link program without using /EXEPACK to keep from hanging running
under MS DOS 5.0 when loaded in low memory locations.
Went to lower case on the display. Function key headings on
bottom line are now case sensitive.
Display filenames in upper or lower case depending on using the
*UPPERCASE profile command.
Fix divide exception when accessing a drive with zero free space.
Make directory sort for OS/2 HPFS case insensitive.
Version 2.66 --- February 23, 1992
Add support for ZOO archive files.
Correct bug causing /EXP command not to recognize LZH files.
Modify the directory search method for file find and attribute chg.
Display a files & directories read message when building directory
tree.
Display a searching message when using the /find command.
Supply additional example fonts.
Enhanced performance of the ZIP archive access by using the central
directory.
Changed all reading/writing files to be buffered I/O.
Corrected error in setting keyboard where it wouldn't save settings.
The /find command will expand arguments using XLIST macros
(i.e. $n, $f, etc.)
Provided return codes when errors occur when paging Xlist to
EMS memory or a temporary disk. (See *OVERLAY docu.)
/find & /tree commands can be aborted by pressing the Esc key.
Recompiled with large data pointers increasing the maximum *ENTRIES to
2500 files & increasing the maximum *BUFSIZE to 65,535.
Supplied TSRINT.EXE TSR program to load before using XLIST when
unsafe interrupts cause "Unsafe interrupt ?? vector"
message when the *OVERLAY option is set ON. (Enter
"TSRINT /U" to unload from memory)
Added option to load all files on drive when using the "-a" option
on startup of XLIST.
Additional sort command "/sp" that will sort by file name including
the full path. Can be of use when multiple directories
are displayed.
Version 2.66A --- February 25, 1992
Uses unbuffered I/O when accessing archive files.
One less I/O per directory entry when accessing LZH archive files.
Scan of archive directories can be aborted by pressing the Esc key.
Correct ability to access LZH archives with embedded pathnames
having/not having leading backslashes.
Version 2.66B --- April 26, 1992
To make LZH archive access faster for emulating the directory
structure the program creates a temporary file on the
drive pointed to by "TMP" environment variable. The
file has the same name as the archive file with the
extension changed to "$$$". Contains on the directory
information for subsequent access to the archive
directory structure.
Corrected creation of partial directory trees when interrupted by the
ESC key at initial startup.
File created by the *TREE profile command is now hidden in the
root directory as XLIST_x.LOG where 'x' is the drive letter.
Remove TSRINT.EXE program because it is unnecessary.
Known problem with *OVERLAY option used with Digital Research's
Dr. DOS 6.0 will be resolved in future release.
Version 2.70 --- June 2, 1992
Preview file entries when browsing the directory tree
when the new profile command *TREESCAN is ON.
Option to reload directory tree when a XLIST_x.LOG file exists
is controlled by the *TREEDATE profile command.
Position to archive file when exiting directory scan of
archive.
Un-highlite current command line when executing commands.
Correct the space utilization "allocation unit" amount.
Some color changes to the directory tree & /exe window.
Version 2.70A --- July 14, 1992
Correction to include all directories of LZH archive files.
/EXP & /EXE command wouldn't function correctly in clearing screen.
Version 2.70B --- July 27, 1992
Modified to load upward to 5900 entries using the *ENTRIES
parameter by using 31-bit huge pointers.
Recompiled programs to resolve intermittent problems in OS/2 2.0
causing SYS3175 and SYS3176 protection faults with DOS
version in DOS window. (Compiled with MS C/C++ 7.0.)
Directory tree work file naming standards changed to "XLIST.LOG"
for MS-DOS and non-HPFS OS/2 drives and "XLIST.HPFS"
for HPFS OS/2 drives. Lets you have Xlist active in
both DOS & OS/2 windows without directory tree
confusion.
Pressing CTRL-ENTER will only execute the command on the current
command line where the cursor is positioned.
Version 2.70C --- August 6, 1992
Will now support Digital Research's DR.DOS 6.0 memory management
features when using the *OVERLAY feature and high memory
active.
Corrected bug in the Zip archive directory causing only the first
entry to be displayed in some cases when central directory
had extra appended information.
Removed the *EMS option as unnecessary.
New parameters added to the *OVERLAY option to specify the possible
locations to swap the program from memory. These options
may be mixed on the *OVERLAY line following the first
option "ON". Values: SWAP_ANY, SWAP_DISK, SWAP_EMS,
SWAP_XMS, SWAP_EXT (Note: OS/2 Users in the DOS box should't
use the SWAP_ANY and SWAP_EXT options. Use SWAP_EMS or
SWAP_XMS option)
Minor correction to inconsistent operation of the /s option on the
command line.
